It all comes from these guys. Everything. I hear the world and everything in it, and I always have been that way. I really don't know why I am the way I am, why I play music, or why I do anything else I do. It has been so long since I worked a regular job, and trust me, it isn't always easy out here in "I'm not like everybody else" land. There is just something in music, in sound, in the vibes, when it hits me just right. I just know there is more in the Universe than trying to be like somebody else, wanting what somebody else has, thinking that you have to spend your entire life doing what you don't want to do, just so you can have health insurance. I plan on playing as much as I can for as long as I can even when I don't feel like it, or when nobody is listening, or nobody seems to care. You don't have to care, because I do. Music is my soul. SPIRIT man when all the notes are in the air above the band or musician... That's my bag.
I love Ray Charles too, and Nina Simone, and Donny Hathaway, and the Blind Boys of Alabama, and lots more where that came from. Just give it to me straight with no beating around the bush. Black Keys, White Stripes, D'angelo, I got more where that came from. Oh there is a great band in Boston called the Tarbox Ramblers, you have GOT to check them out! I could tell you a story, but time is short.
